GIVING

Supporting GCS is a community endeavor where everyone pitches in.

From its earliest days, The Grace Citadel Schools has been a place of partnership between families and staff to fulfill the mission of the school. Through nearly six decades of collaboration and generosity, parenting adults, teachers, and staff have given their time, talents, and resources to make GCS the amazing school that it is today, from the initial acquisition of the current property to the growth and continuous enhancements to the site and program.

The spirit of the founders lives on as the School continues its mission to cultivate and celebrate the intellectual, imaginative, and humanitarian promise of each student. We depend on philanthropy to deliver this outstanding educational program.

At GCS, philanthropy is a joyful commitment to the community. It is an investment in our people, place, and program. It is a school-wide effort that benefits all community members. By volunteering time and contributing financially, you make a positive impact on the school, advancing the mission, vision, and values.

Please contact the School Office with any questions you may have or to discuss opportunities to get involved and invested in GCS. Thank you in advance for your support.

Major Gifts

To help ensure our financial stability, GCS has an ongoing major gifts effort for community members with the interest and capacity to make a major financial investment in the school. Major gift donors support special needs that require contributed funds in addition to Annual Giving. The school has several projects and opportunities that are in need of funding, including facilities improvements, program investments, technology, and equipment for our academic programs. Donors who contribute N100,000 or more in a given year will be invited to the Head’s Circle Dinner in the fall. Please contact the Advancement Office for gift opportunities and priority needs.

Capital Campaigns

Periodically, the School raises funds for an important initiative that moves the school forward in a transformative way, such as improvements to the physical plant or investments to advance program and curriculum. GCS hopes to engage strategic capital campaigns to raise enough funds to construct the The Citadelle Community Center –  a combination middle-school size regulation gym and state-of-the-art 350-seat theater as well as five new classrooms and multiple offices.

Endowment

The School aims to grow the endowment to at least one year of tuition revenue in order to provide more critical funding to assure the socio-economic diversity, innovative programs, talented faculty, and financial security that shape GCS. GCS plans to implement a Forge Our Future: The Campaign for GCS in a bid to raised funds in gifts and pledges receivable for the endowment, bringing the endowment much closer to our long-term goal. A contribution to the school’s endowment is a gift that makes an impact now and in perpetuity.

Gifts to the Endowment can be directed to the General Fund or to Named Funds.

Planned Giving/Legacy Gifts

A tremendous way to support The Grace Citadel Schools Endowment is to include the school in your estate planning. Many people have come to realize that they can give a larger gift by deferring it to a later time by creating a trust or bequest. We are proud and honored to include all such donors in The Grace Citadel Schools Legacy Society. You can become a member by:

  • placing The Grace Citadel Schools in your will
  • making The Grace Citadel Schools the beneficiary of a retirement account
  • making a gift of life insurance policy
  • establishing a charitable trust
  • making a gift of real estate or other tangible property

If you have questions or would like more details about making a planned gift to The Grace Citadel Schools, please contact the School Office.

0.2

Each year, nearly 20 GCS community members —parenting adults, trustees, alumni families, grandparents, faculty, staff, and friends— make gifts to The Fund for GCS.

Through the support of the annual fund campaign, we are able to attract, retain, and support talented faculty and staff, offer professional development, provide financial assistance which creates a diverse socioeconomic student body, and maintain our classrooms and campus.

The broad reach of The Fund for GCS means that each student, family, and faculty member benefits from the funds that we raise.

This year we plan a 75-day campaign with the aim to raise N5,000,000 through 100% trustee and parenting adult participation. By participating with a pledge or gift before December 31, our donations are put to work this academic year.

We know that families have different abilities to give and therefore ask that every family participate at a level that is meaningful to them. You may donate now online or mail your gift to:

The Grace Citadel Schools
2 Akpan Odok Street
Obot Nodm, Ekom Iman, ZIP: 520001

Or make a pledge now and pay prior to October 20, 2026.

Please contact Godwin Ekpo, Heads of Teachers at godwine@sfschool.org or 415.287.2003 with any questions.
